Liliana and Her Cat Adventures - The Library Chase
Written By, Lisa Fallon
It was a quiet morning, outside the sun was already shining. Liliana skipped down the sidewalk with her book bag swinging at her side. Behind her padded four cats—Piper, Zeus, Bonnie and Leia. “Today’s story time at the library!” Liliana said excitedly. The cats purred in agreement as they all followed her to the Library.
The library stood tall and bright, its windows sparkling like open pages. Inside, everything smelled like paper and adventure. "Stay close.” Liliana whispered as they stepped in. “Libraries are for quiet paws.” Zeus followed Liliana to the reading rug. Leia jumped onto the table and sat looking curious. Piper spotted a fluttering bookmark on the desk. And Bonnie… saw something shiny on the floor in front of her. Uh oh.
Before Liliana could say a word, Bonnie leapt after the shiny pen—and Piper dashed after the shiny bookmark! Across the carpet they went—tails high, paws flying, whiskers twitching. “The Library Chase!” whispered a giggling boy nearby. Liliana hurried after them. “Bonnie! Piper! Come back!” Zeus sighed a deep, patient sigh. Leia still sat on the table watching and not wanting any part of the chase. Around the story corner they went past shelves of picture books and fairy tales.
Bonnie pounced—and landed in a basket of puppets! Piper skidded to a stop beside the bookcase sending a stack of bookmarks fluttering like butterflies. “Oh dear,” said Liliana softly. “This is not quiet at all.” The librarian peeked around the corner. Her eyes twinkled. “Looks like your friends love stories as much as you do,” she said kindly. Liliana nodded. “They just got… a little too excited.”
Together they tidied up. Zeus helped by batting stray papers into a neat pile. Leia nudged the basket of puppets back into place. Bonnie and Piper sat very still trying to look extra good. “Thank you,” said the librarian with a smile. “How about a story to calm everyone down?” Back at the reading corner Liliana and her four cats settled down again. This time, even Piper stayed still—mostly. Liliana and the four cats sat and listened to the librarian read a story about an adventure and an explorer.
When it was time to go, Liliana tucked the starry bookmark into her book bag. Outside, the afternoon sun felt warm and bright. The cats trotted beside her, tails high and proud, as they walked back home. "Well that was quite the Library chase adventure!" she told them all laughing out loud.
“Four cats,” Liliana whispered. “My team. My family. My everything.” She smiled at the bookmark shining in her hand. Because adventures, she knew could happen anywhere, even in a quiet library.
